Description
Vintage ‘Tit-bits’ sauce bottle from Selby, York embossed lettering in the glass. This bottle is clear and square and has a subtle iridescence on the surface glass that comes from it being buried. It is dressed with a heavily patinated metal collar that reminds me of an autumn leaf in the wind. The candle holder is made from turned brass and has a stunning verdigris patina overlaying the gold of the brass. Again the brass hand stamped logo is attached to the back of the bottle.
Natural iridescence is sometimes found on modern glass bottles from digs in the back yards of old houses or pulled out of river beds. The word iridescence comes from Iris, the Greek Goddess of rainbows and refers to rainbow-like colours seen on the glass which changes in different lighting.
I should mention that all the candle holders in this Ambrosia collection, like most of my work are completely unique and one off due to the very nature of the materials I use. All the elements are antique & vintage finds, reimagined, repurposed and curated in to new objects.
