Art Project & Brief set by Coventry Transport museum & The Herbert Gallery

Coventry Transport Museum and The Herbert Gallery commissioned 15 Artists to create an artwork from scrap cars for an exhibition to be held at the Museum

Fiona Gall decided to create a ‘Scrapyard Chandelier’ from various scrap car parts. Spark plugs, reverse lights, old headlight bulbs were turned into decorative elements. The piece was lit by using a car battery and jump leads.

Lane Crawford invited Fiona Gall to their HQ in Hong Kong, to rifle through their visual merchandising warehouse which housed many unwanted items and props. The theme was Botanica and her mission was to create something beautiful out of all their unwanted “rubbish”
Running alongside this project Lane Crawford exhibited Fiona Gall’s collections in their Botanical themed stores

Ambrosia

From ornate embellished punch bowls to Mad Men-era liqueur glasses, vintage glassware was the ‘new garnish’ behind the some of the world’s most celebrated drinking dens.
Fiona decided to incorporate this element into her chandeliers, dressing the piece with antique table wear instead of crystals.

Inspired by the botanical drawings that her father brought home to her as a young girl, Emerald Faerie introduces The Birds of Paradise collection.

This collection utilizes the traditional techniques and finishes of lost wax bronze casting.

The ornamental pieces come in flat black nickel or antiqued brass and are bedecked in strands of crystal. They are finished with angular bronze wings facing outwards that twist the traditional chandelier format into something a little more directional and unexpected.

Fiona Gall, is a designer-maker who creates under the name of Emerald Faerie. Opulent & decorative lighting and jewellery made from metal, glass and repurposed antique finds. Creating one-off sculptural art lighting pieces and chandeliers. She creates custom designs for private, retail and hospitality clients in the UK & USA. Each piece is handmade to order in her studio in Kent.
