Description
Vintage mustard spoon with a mid century clear baguette cut diamante detail. I have a soft spot for the baguette cut, I love how this diamante appears to be lichen growing on and around the form of the spoon. Or perhaps it is a heavy hoar frost? Either way this one is a special piece I had no idea it would turn out this way it is one of those pieces that creates itself!
The ‘feathery’ variety of hoar frost forms when the surface temperature reaches freezing point before dew begins to form on it. The word ‘hoar’ comes from old English and refers to the old age appearance of the frost: the way the ice crystals form makes it look like white hair or a beard.
As a spiritual symbol, lichen represents the interdependence and interconnectedness of all living beings.
I have cut the spoon in to two, so that both halves stay together. The bowl of the spoon reminds me of a droplet of water.
This pendant is pictured suspended from an 18″ recycled sterling silver curb chain (un-hallmarked) Choose between a silver curb chain as pictured here or a silver ball chain necklace, pop a note with your choice in the special instructions at the checkout.
