Description
A vintage pastry fork pendant, embellished with a delicate pale cream rose detail.
In art and jewellery roses represent romance and enduring love. It is known as the ‘Queen of the flowers’ and has also been linked to Aphrodite, the goddess of love. The pale creamy rose in this piece is thought to be celluloid which was often referred to as “French Ivory” in its heyday. The fork was originally created to eat cake with, hence its one knife like prong, used to cut the cake up in to smaller bite sized pieces.
The fork has been heavily distressed and indented with a hammer and stamp and is suspended on a sterling silver curb chain by a small plain silver jump ring. While the rose is attached to the fork by a hand formed silver pin. The chain is made from recycled silver (un-hallmarked) You can choose between a silver curb chain as pictured here or a silver ball chain necklace. Just pop a note with your choice in the ‘special instructions’ at the checkout.
